My first steps in sewing at the factory

In 2020, during the COVID-19 crisis and the mask shortage, I took my first steps in sewing by learning directly in the factory. This experience was captured in the documentary "Re|making masks: a sector, an industry".

The documentary

In March 2020, a handful of entrepreneurs decided to revive the French textile industry from its ashes. Faced with the health crisis and the shortage of masks, they mobilized to recreate a local production sector.

A formative experience

This period was pivotal in my journey. Learning to sew in the midst of a crisis, at the heart of a factory mobilized to respond to the national emergency, allowed me to understand the importance of local production and to master the artisanal techniques that are now at the heart of Galileo Couture.

From crisis to creation

This experience reinforced my conviction that another kind of fashion is possible: local, responsible, and high-quality fashion. The values of slow fashion and made-to-order production that Galileo Couture embodies are rooted in this period when the French textile industry demonstrated its capacity for reinvention.
